About

Hello!  My name is Julia.  I have a willful daughter named Polina, whose name spelled backwards almost spells antelope.  Thus, the Antelope Diaries.

Earlier in my life I worked as a reporter and as a social worker.  I love listening and sharing good stories.  I haven’t ceased to be amazed.

My husband and I are East Coast transplants living in the Pacific Northwest.  Our daughter was born in this new land.  She is my inspiration, my teacher and sometimes my boss, which can be maddening.  She is the best thing that has happened to me.

I often think of this blog as a love letter to my daughter.  However, this blog is as much about me as it is about her.

I started writing to share the thoughts and emotions that came up for me in this new chapter called parenthood.  I write about my observations and reflections on being a parent and watching a human develop.  I hope you will join me in this journey.

Here are the characters in my life.

  1. Hello my Tandoor friend ! I looked at your diary and I am getting to know you slowly. My parents lived in Audubon NJ during WWll and I loved away when I was one years old. I settled into a lovely apt building across from Volunteer Park, as the apt manager when I moved out West in 1977. I went to Tandoor last night & I plan to visit the Aman & Raj family three more times before they close the restaurant.
I saw a great movie about your home town 2 years ago. Thank you, Kenn

    1. Hi Kenn,

Pete and I were at Tandoor on Sunday morning. Sorry we missed you. We plan on being back Tuesday for lunch around noon. They are usually closed on Tuesdays, but they will be open this one last day at their location. : ( I will definitely miss them. I am going to write and ode to them soon and post it on this site.
