Scene from the Day- Painting Our House

So we are not the best at picking paint colors, as evidenced by how many samples we have purchased over the past two years for various projects (at one time, I counted 79, and we have bought more since).  I envy people that can walk into a store, pick out a color or two, and get to painting within the week.  We have not been so fortunate.  To avoid disappointment, my husband built a model of our house using foam core from the dollar store and painted the sides various shades of green.  We settled on this one- La Fonda Territory Green by Valspar.  What do you think?

This morning we went as a family to my husband’s annual appointment with his sleep doctor.  (Because three heads are sometimes better than two.)  He forgot his keys, his work ID badge, and, well, his wallet.  Good thing we have the same insurance card, because they asked for it.  I drove him home afterward for the aforementioned and, in the midst of our busy weekend spilling into a busy Monday morning, saw these patches of clouds above our house.

This brief visual respite made me smile.

Scene From the Day- Polina and the RNC 2016

Polina watching the RNC national convention.

After turning off the lights in Polina’s room at 6:40 pm, she magically ran out at 8 pm.  Ever the inquisitive, she asked what we were up to.  When she learned Peter was making pasta (“I’m in the mood,” he said), she said she wanted to eat too.  So there you have it.  She ate pasta and then joined us on our bed in the living room (because we are remodeling) watching her first national convention.

My Neighborhood is Changing, and I Don’t Like It

New development across the street.
New development across the street.

The last couple of weeks my mornings have been greeted with the sound of chainsaws.  I don’t particularly like the sound of power tools, and chainsaws rank up there as one of the worst.

Now it is the sound of engines from dump trucks and excavators carving up the soil.  I look out my backyard and see the excavator swinging its massive claw.  There is that recognizable beeping sound that follows you into your home.   More
